Elder Scrolls Online Ebonheart Pact Alliance Info Guides
* A pact established only because the factions shared a strong rivalry with one another:
Background and Leadership: Founded in the 2nd era, the Ebonheart Pact’s territory stretched over the three provinces of Skyrim, Morrowind and Black Marsh at the height of its power. Mournhold, the capital city located on mainland Morrowind was their stronghold (homeland of the Dunmer) even though the faction was led by a Nord nobleman… Jorunn the Skald-King. Politically one of the most unstable but very powerful among the alliances of Tamriel’s history, the three cultures that comprised the Ebonheart Pact shared a great distrust for each other, only sticking together because of a common rivalry with Akaviri invaders. The Ebonheart Pact was a politically fragile yet a powerful military alliance between Skyrim, Morrowind and Black Marsh. It was formed in 2E 572, amidst the turmoil of the Second Akaviri Invasion. After Windhelm had been removed and the death of Skyrim’s royal family (the Akaviri) they began their march south to Riften City. In grief and desperation, Jorunn, now the high king and the last remaining member of the royal family, approached the Greybeards for guidance. They did join with him and called upon Wulfharth the Ash-King from Sovngarde for assistance. Inspired by Wulfharth, Jorunn’s army of Nord warriors all joined in arms ready to confront the Akaviri invaders on their terms!
Ebonheart Pact History:
Knowing that the Nords had regrouped, it was obvious they were the primary threat to their expedition in Tamriel. The Akaviri for some reason decided to avoid a second confrontation and instead headed for Morrowind, figuring the Nords would ignore them once they were no longer within Skyrim’s borders. Jorunn’s men pursued the Akaviri anyway across the Velothi Mountains and pushed them deep into Morrowind, catching the Akaviri army in a battle between the Dunmer and the Argonians, who joined the battle for reasons not yet known. This victory over the Akaviri forces played a crucial role in the later forging of the Ebonheart Pact. Following the Akaviri defeat, the Nords, Dunmer and Argonians formed the Great Moot. The three cultures henceforth struck as a single army, ultimately repelling the entire invasion of the Akaviri slavemasters. In the era of The Elder Scrolls Online, the Ebonheart Pact controls the largest area of Tamriel’s landmass out of the three factions. Despite the godlike power of the Dunmeri Tribunal, the faction was led by the High King of Skyrim. However, he did not rule absolutely. All governing decisions had to be brought up and discussed in the Great Moot to be approved. Jorunn the Skald-King was said to be humorous and inspiring, but also harbored an iron will. Despite the fact that the seat of power in Skyrim was the city of Windhelm, Jorunn spent most of his time in Mournhold.
The Ebonheart Pact Races
Argonian – The Argonians possess a cool intellect, and are well-versed in magical arts, stealth, and the use of blades. They are also guerrilla warfare experts, long accustomed to defending their borders from invaders. They often serve as the scouts and skirmishers for the forces of the Pact. The Argonians rose to power in Black Marsh after a plague (that is widely rumored to have been unleashed by a powerful mage) wiped out the other races in the area. Argonian Skills and Builds
Dark Elf – The Dark Elf homeland of Morrowind has been invaded many times by the Akaviri and the Nords. This history of conflict has transformed the Dunmer into hardened warriors. They also have a natural affinity for magic and great intellect, making them skillful sorcerers. Dunmer Skill Lines and Builds
Nord – The Nords once conquered most of Tamriel, and as a result, feel a certain entitlement to rule. They broke the power of the Ayleids, nearly drove the High Elves out of High Rock, and conquered much of Resdayn, the precursor to Morrowind. The Nords are excellent with arms. They are quick to anger, boisterous, and strong. They are natural-born warriors who fight with an ecstatic ferocity that terrifies their enemies. Nord Skills and Builds
