Altmer Background:

SUMMERSET ISLE (HIGH ELVES)The High Elves, or Altmer, came to Tamriel millenia ago from Old Aldmeris, and consider themselves to be more advanced than the other races. They have a highly developed culture with complex public creative works and infrastructure. They are isolationist, and prefer to stay closer to the Summerset Isles. A tall-golden-skinned race, they are highly intelligent, long-lived and scientific in their pursuit of magical mastery. Altmer language formed the basis for the common tongue of Tamriel, and most imperial laws & customs are based on Altmer customs and traditions. They are highly talented (and vulnerable to) Magicka, and very resistant to diseases. They tend to be slender of build, and tall.

HIGH ELF SYMBOL

History of the High Elves:

For the Altmer, the soaring eagle represents their ancestors the Aedra, who came from the heavens and were trapped in physical form by the creation of Nirn. Altmer are the direct descendants of the original Aldmer elves, and due to various forms of social unrest many groups split from the main group on the Summerset Isles and migrated into the rest of Tamriel. This led to a diversification of the race, into the other races like the Bosmer (Wood Elves), Orsimer (Orcs) and the Dwemer. Many of the legends and lore books of Tamriel link the changes in each race to the appearance and behavior of the deities they worship. For many centuries during the Mythic Era though, the other elven races thought of the Aldmeri king as their own. They are a very precise culture, with complex rules for various types of social interactions.

Leadership

Queen AyrennThe Aldmeri Dominion was formed by Queen Ayrenn after the High Elves received information that Molag Bal worshippers had toppled the Ruby Throne and taken over the imperial city. At 25, she was already a seasoned adventurer when her father died and she assumed the throne. Her intelligence, persistence and vision prompted her to reach out to the Khajiit and Bosmer to form an alliance with which to combat this otherworldly invasion. Like many High Elves, she believes it is her duty to lead and protect the younger races of Nirn from the many threats they face from powerful beings, some who are not from Nirn.

“The Altmer, the Bosmer and the Khajiit share the common traits of intelligence, patience and reason. We do not seek riches or plunder. Domination is not our goal, nor is the acclamation of power for its own sake. Today we make our stand. Today we take back the Ruby Throne, which is ours by ancient right and the blessings of the Divines. Stand with us.”

Which class is best for Altmer Builds?

Sorcerer and Templar are considered the best classes for High Elves!

If you’re building a High Elf (Altmer) character, Templar is a good choice but Sorcerer is best matched with High Elves. Additional Magicka for a Sorcerer makes ranged spells easier and more destructive! Using Elemental Talent with Storm Calling produces spectacular results! With so many potential Sorcerer/Altmer builds, selecting all the right combinations (weapons, armor, etc.) it can be a daunting task to build a super powerful High Elf Sorcerer. For those of you who would rather select from the best ready-made, tried and proven builds, go ahead and get a copy of  mastery build guides.
